Description / Abstract:
This Standard details definitions, methods of measurement, and
minimum performancecharacteristics for Code Division Multiple
Access (CDMA) mobile stations. This Standardshares the
purpose of [4] (and subsequent revision thereof) by ensuring that a
mobilestation can obtain service in any cellular system that
meets the compatibility requirementsof [4].
Compatibility, as used in connection with this Standard and [4],
is understood to meanthat any mobile station is able to place
and receive calls in any CDMA system. Conversely, all CDMA
systems are able to place and receive calls with any CDMA mobile
stationsupporting operation in the same band.
Test methods are recommended in this document; however, methods
other than thoserecommended may suffice for the same
purpose.
The performance metrics in this Standard require a mobile
station to provide a singleantenna connector for testing.
Mobile stations having multiple antenna, such as for
receivediversity, shall provide a single antenna connector
for testing. If a mobile station has morethan one antenna
connector, only one connector shall be used for testing.
Additionalrequirements specifically for multiple antenna
configurations, i.e. receive diversity, are forfuture
study.
