Description / Abstract:
FORD WQ100A-B-C, 2019 Edition, July 17, 2019 - MATERIAL AND PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS OF POLYAMIDE (PA) HEAT STABILIZED MOLDING COMPOUND FOR FASTENER USE - IMPACT MODIFIED MOLDING COMPOUND FOR FASTENER USE - IMPACT MODIFIED, WEATHERABLE MOLDING COMPOUND FOR FASTENER USE
The material defined by this specification is a thermoplastic heat stabilized molding compound based on polyamide (PA), also known as nylon. The three typical types of nylon for fastener use are Nylon 6, Nylon 66, and Nylon 46. All nylon materials shall contain heat stabilization, but may also include impact modification and/or UV stabilization for impact strength and weatherability, respectively. For purposes of this specification, impact modification and material toughening may be used interchangeably to refer to the material additive that increases impact performance. This specification is created for fastener use only and to address long-term stability of Engineering Drawings for fastener parts. Polyamide parts shall not contain PCR/PIR resin, but regrind is permitted (See Section 3.3, WRS-M99P42-A1).
