The worldwide building sector accounts for 40% of energy-related carbon emissions. Proper application of pulse width modulation (PWM) based technologies is one of the primary methods used to reduce carbon emissions. ECMs and Variable Frequency Drives, i.e. PWM technologies, increase efficiency, simplify design, and align with decarbonization and net-zero goals. This presentation will focus on industry critical applications involving HVACR Motor Controls, Fan Arrays, and Variable Speed Compressors. The purpose of this presentation is to highlight best practices to increase efficiency when designing building mechanical systems.
