As building codes and construction practices are leading to homes with envelopes with less air infiltration and higher insulation levels, heating and cooling loads are changing in typical single family homes. These changing loads mean that alternative approaches must be considered to distribute conditioned air in the home to minimize stratification, ensure thermal comfort throughout the home, and to minimize energy use and first cost. This seminar will discuss some of the challenges in distributing air in low-load homes and some of the possible solutions to provide a good indoor environment with optimized cost.
