Full Description

The purpose of this standard is to establish acommon basis for checking the size of diamondand cubic boron nitride (CBN) grain foruse in the manufacture of diamond grindingwheels, saws and other industrial diamondproducts. It is intended to serve as a commonbasis of understanding for diamond grain producers,and for the manufacturers, distributors,and users of these abrasive products.This standard sets out the grit size designations,the size limits and the sieves to be usedin determining them, as well as the test procedurefor use by industry in checking the size ofdiamond grain exclusive of any coating whichwould have to be removed before performingthe test. Diamond and CBN grain is a naturalor manufactured substance which is producedor reduced by crushing to specific grit sizes.
